NECK LIFT
Neck lift with Dr. Paulsen
A neck lift is a surgical procedure that improves visible signs of aging in the jawline and neck, such as:
- Excess fat and skin in the lower face that creates jowls
- Excess fatty deposits under the chin also know as a double chin
- Loose neck skin
The loss of youthful features in the face and neck can be due to a variety of factors, including aging, heredity, gravity, environmental conditions, and stress.
When the neck area doesn’t match the upper facial appearance, a neck lift may be a good solution.
Dr. Paulsen developed his expertise in neck lift surgery while training with internationally renowned plastic surgeon, Dr. Luis O. Vasconez, a pioneer in cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Paulsen can transform your jaw line and neck through his expertise in platysmaplasty—a neck lift procedure. Do I need a neck lift?
Over time, the smooth, sleek neck of your youth gives way to aging. The underside of the chin can begin to droop with excess skin folds and fatty tissue due to loss of elasticity and muscle weakening around the face. Also, age isn’t the only culprit behind those in need of cosmetic enhancements to the neck area. For some, inherited double chins, (extra fat deposits), on the underside of the chin can be benefit from the surgery.
Often, a neck lift and facelift procedure are done simultaneously to ensure consistency in the look of your face and neck.
What is a neck lift?
There are several techniques used for a neck lift. Each surgery is based on the individual need of the patient which will be assessed during the consultation. Basically, excess skin and fat is removed from under the chin to rid you of the dreaded “turkey waddle.” When necessary the muscles running from the jaw area and down the neck are tightened as well. During the lift, tissue may also be re-positioned for optimal results. Neck lifts are often a complimentary to not just a facelift, but brow lift and BOTOX® injections as well.
The surgery is typically an outpatient procedure lasting around two hours using general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation.
